2024 Rules Update

Netball Australia have provided a memo on the 2024 rules updates. Along with adaptations to existing rules, particularly clarifications and streamlining of contact and advantage, the 2024 edition focuses on player safety and game management.

  • The course is for our beginner umpires as an introduction to Umpiring. The purpose of the course is to give aspiring umpires an overview of officiating the game of netball. The full day program will give an introduction and foundation for netball umpiring and the opportunity to umpire a game alongside your trainer.


  • Presenters: Di Kakau,  Other RNA Umpires

    Place: Redlands Netball Association Netball Courts, Pinklands

    When: 1 Full Day course – Sunday 15th March - 7:30am - 4:00pm.  Please arrive by 7.15am

    Pre-Requisite: Achieve Pass of 70% in Rules of Theory Umpire. Further details provided prior to Course.


  • What to Bring/wear: Full Water Bottle, Small Towel, Notebook, Pen, Rule Book, Suitable Footwear, Acme Finger Whistle,  Hair tie, White Top & White or black Skort. White jacket Chair, Snacks.

    Cost: No Cost required – bring your eagerness and determination!

    Expression Of Interest: Complete the EOI form  by 1st March, 2026

  • Age: Must be 12y 6m to nominate.

    Numbers are limited. To be involved in this program, please complete this form ensuring you advise your Club Umpire Convenor that you have expressed your interest. Acceptances will be notified shortly after closing date.

    The Rules of Netball Theory Examination

    The Rules of Netball Theory Examination tests the basic rules of the game. This is a Netball Australia Course - (cost $12.50) and aprerequisite for RNA Umpire Trainees 

    It is an online examination that is accessible all year. A certificate is generated for all candidates who achieve a pass (70% or above). The most recent examination mark is the current result and Pass marks are valid for four years.

    It is highly recommended that prior to commencing this exam you read a copy of the Rules of Netball (2020).

    You MUST give way to umpires on the goal line and wait while moving around the courts during GAME play.
